About Tasha Edmonds

My academic training and decade of experience working as a secondary instructor and a pre-service teacher trainer prepares me to be an effective instructor in the postsecondary Classroom. My most recent graduate program with the University of Miami examined the student achievement outcomes of changes in teacher practice through the lens of social justice and equity by using my secondary teaching assignment. Throughout this program, I reflected on my teaching practice and how my own experiences, ideals, and biases can impact the education that my students receive in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. In the future, I hope to continue this research with a focus on student-centered project-based learning, the science of learning, and teacher education. In addition to my academic experience, I have been involved in the development of curriculum for secondary students and training experiences for pre-service teachers with both Breakthrough Miami and Teach for America Miami-Dade. For Breakthrough Miami, I developed the Social Studies curriculum used across the program sites in Miami-Dade County and created learning experiences for the student teachers to engage in prior to and during their time with scholars.
