About Tashi Erdmann

Tashi Erdmann leads the Data Science Capability Centre for Shell Energy, a team of data scientists, AI engineers and quant developers applying machine learning and quantitative engineering to energy trading. The team works across all parts of Shell Energy, including gas & power trading, LNG trading, and environmental products trading. Previously, Tashi was data science team lead for commercial insights, and HR Analytics manager. Before that, he was statistical consultant in Shell's Statistics & Data Science team and econometric advisor in Shell's Scenarios team where he modeled long term energy demand. Prior to joining Shell, Tashi was a senior consultant at IBIS UvA, where he combined a role as trainer of Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and Green Belt courses with scientific research in the field of Measurement System Analysis: the statistical evaluation of measurement procedures based on experiments. Tashi has published a number of papers about his research in the international academic literature and has been an invited speaker at several international scientific conferences. Tashi studied financial econometrics (cum laude), and has a PhD in statistics from the University of Amsterdam. In his leisure time Tashi is interested in music, cinema, wine, and speaks multiple languages including Thai. He loves traveling, and has lived in Bangkok for two years, where he worked as a mathematics teacher at an international school.
