About Tashina Gorgone

I focus my practice in the areas of family law and appellate litigation. I have been practicing law since 2013 and joined Maddox & Gerock, P.C. as a partner in September 2019. I became a Shareholder in January 2025. To me, the most rewarding aspect of practicing law is the challenge of problem-solving; I strive to help families develop and effectuate plans that will not only address their immediate needs, but provide them with peace of mind for the future. To that end, while I love being in a courtroom and advocating for my clients, I am also keenly aware that often litigation and its uncertainties can leave families fractured and without long-term peace. So, I have also trained in the practice of collaborative law. The collaborative divorce process is a pledge between spouses or parents to resolve their matters without going to court (or threatening to take it to court). It's an opportunity for our clients to make choices about how to divorce with dignity, while working with mental health and financial professionals to ensure that both sides are secure and stable as they transition to the next phase of their life. However, when a case must be tried in court, I remain able to effectively and comprehensively prepare and deliver strong oral advocacy on behalf of my clients and their families. I graduated from The University of Mary Washington with a Bachelor of the Arts and obtained my law degree from George Mason University School of Law. While attending George Mason, I was an active member of the Moot Court Team, where I won First Place in the Billings, Exum & Frye National Moot Court Competition. I also served as a Notes Editor on the George Mason Law Review and was a member of the Trial Advocacy Association. I am licensed to practice in all courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. I am a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Fairfax County Bar Association, among others. In 2017, I was named by Super Lawyers as a Virginia “Rising Star” in the practice area of Family Law, and I became a "Super Lawyer" in 2024. I have also been a "Best Lawyer" in Family Law and a Virginia "Legal Elite" since 2022. I am a Northern Virginia native, and currently reside in Fairfax. In my spare time, I can be found performing with various local community theatre groups, with which I have appeared in a wide variety of productions ranging from musicals to Shakespeare. I also am the proud owner of two adult beagles.
