About Tatiana Walker

I am a third-year Civil Engineering Technology student with a strong interest in how well-designed infrastructure can enhance the functionality and sustainability of our communities. Through my academic courses at RIT and hands-on experiences, I have developed interests in structural design, energy, and hydraulics. I have gained proficiency in various software, including Autodesk Civil 3d, Revit, Fusion 360, and Inventor. Some of my projects include designing a multi-story cottage home using Revit, creating a functional 3D sustainable lid in Fusion 360, and developing 2D parking lot designs in AutoCAD. Additionally, I worked on designing a concrete canoe mold with Inventor, blending creativity with practical engineering skills. My hands-on experience also includes preparing aggregate mixes and performing strength tests, slump tests, and compressive strength assessments on concrete. As a member of the RIT Concrete Canoe Team, I contributed to building the foam mold for our canoe by sawing, sectioning, and sanding the mold. This experience helped me improve my teamwork skills and gain valuable hands-on experience in concrete placement. In addition to my engineering studies, I serve as a Major Event Manager for the College Activities Board at RIT. Transitioning from a general events manager to overseeing major events has increased my responsibilities, allowing me to plan larger-scale events such as Fall Fest, Freeze Fest, and Spring Fest. This role has enhanced my skills in leadership, budgeting, and event planning. Ultimately, my commitment to civil engineering is driven by a desire to create meaningful structures that improve quality of life and support sustainable development. I look forward to connecting with others who share this vision and are dedicated to making a positive impact through engineering.
