About Taylin Spurlock
I am a recently graduated student from the Geography Master’s program at Appalachian State University. My thesis analyzed how hurricanes impact neonatal outcomes, specifically looking at low birth weight and preterm birth. Throughout my time at AppState, I worked with Dr. Maggie Sugg researching different interactions between climate and society using statistical and geospatial analysis techniques. Also while at App State, I taught multiple lab sections about global climate change and guest lecturing on many different topics under Dr. Baker Perry and Dr. Mike Mayfield. Currently, I am working as a Interpretive Park Ranger at the Blue Ridge Parkway for NPS. I love teaching visitors about the history and geography of the parkway. When I am not at work, you can find me snuggling with my two pups, learning a new hobby (working on oil paining right now), or reading a good book.
