About Taylor Armstead

Coming into the world of nursing as a Nurse Resident on a general medicine floor, I have acquired several nursing skills and techniques focusing on the building blocks of nursing. These skills include comprehensive patient assessments, clinical judgments, prioritization of care, and communication amongst patients, family members, and colleagues. Communication amongst the multidisciplinary team is something I became very familiar with, in order to create and implement an integrated, individualized plan of care for each patient. Through out my nursing experience, the holistic approach to nursing that was merely read about in nursing school grew to be a real everyday practice for me. I learned to focus not just on the physical needs of my patients, but their emotional needs also. Some things such as giving an update in order to calm a worried heart, holding ones hand during a bedside procedure or a quick run to nutrition to get their favorite flavor jello, goes a long way.
