About Taylor Bearss

I have a passion for supporting and empowering children, youth and their families through various difficult situations, facilitating change in the lives of youth and families as well as, working with children and youth with complex needs. I worked as a Child and Youth Counsellor (CYC) within the Eating Disorders Unit at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) for just over a year! I was devoted to supporting children and youth and their families who were struggling with an eating disorder and any related mental health concerns. I now currently work within the Neurodevelopmental Health Program! As a Child and Youth Counsellor (CYC) in the Neurodevelopmental Health program at CHEO, I specialize in providing support to children and youth with diverse healthcare needs. Within our Extensive Needs Program (ENS), I work with individuals who have multiple medical, social, physical, and developmental healthcare needs. Additionally, I provide support to children and youth enrolled in our Urgent Response Program (URS) who have Autism and exhibit high-risk behaviors such as aggression, suicidal ideation, self-harm, risk of exploitation, and property destruction. My primary goal for both services is to provide comprehensive support and guidance to the children youth and families, helping them navigate their unique circumstances and improve their overall well-being. Member of Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care (OACYC) Certified in Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
