About Taylor Gilliatt

When I was eighteen years old, I watched my own funeral. I’ll explain the story A select few students in my high school class were asked to reenact a drunk driving car accident a couple days before Senior Prom. It was intended to emphasize that drinking and driving can be fatal. Those few students and I improvised the entire act. We didn’t have a single rehearsal, practice any lines, or have any type of script. For someone who’s never acted a day in her life, I had to trust that I could step outside myself and embody the persona of a wounded passenger who had minutes left to live. After chest compressions and failed defibrillation, I was pronounced dead. The act then continued onward with a funeral scene—my funeral scene—where I watched my sister deliver my eulogy to my entire high school class. Storytelling has been a part of my life since my earliest memories. Whether it be acting in a mock accident or writing blog posts, advertising campaigns, or other copy, I have learned how vital it is to absorb the mission of any project to properly provide an audience high-quality messaging.
