About Taylor Lager

My pharmacy career started in 2013 as a certified pharmacy technician (CPhT) at Jewel-Osco. The year before getting into pharmacy school, I taught a state-accredited pharmacy technician course at In-Training College LLC. I worked at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and CVS Pharmacy during pharmacy school. I completed a PGY-1 community pharmacy residency with Ascension St. Vincent and predominantly worked in outpatient, ambulatory care clinics. Some of my experiences included working in pediatric asthma, geriatrics, and renal transplant. I managed patients under a collaborative practice agreement for disease states such as hypertension, diabetes, and anticoagulation. Additionally, in the medication safety experience, I handled SOS error management for the outpatient pharmacies, reviewed any reported incidences with the staff, implemented any workflow changes to reduce reoccurrence, and supplemented this with creating and distributing medication safety newsletters. I helped facilitate the RX416 Self Care & Health Promotion lab at Butler University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. In addition to other education opportunities during my PGY-1 year, I was granted a certificate of completion for the Indiana Pharmacy Teaching Certificate Program (IPTeC). During residency, I staffed in a charitable pharmacy that utilized 340-B drug pricing and drug manufacturer assistance and paired with the Dispensary of Hope to reduce the cost of medications for those in need. During residency, I was the inaugural junior board member for the Charitable Pharmacies of America. In this position, I participated in the board meetings and assisted with social media setup while planning and scheduling content for the online sites. In my current role as a clinical pharmacist with Ochsner Specialty Pharmacy, I utilize all my previous work experience, including providing positive customer service, utilizing teamwork, performing drug utilization reviews, providing both disease state management and drug therapeutic monitoring, educating both providers and patients on drug therapies, and implementing the use of various tools, such as patient assistance for medication access. I also serve as a PGY-1 community preceptor for the inflammatory disease experience. My passion is medication access for my patients. I am self-motivated and dedicated, looking to address healthcare disparities both locally and at a larger level.
