About Taylor Messenger

I am an Occupational Therapist in San Diego California, originally from Montreal, Quebec. I am a passionate, efficient, and loyal individual with professional OT experience in diverse settings and with a variety of clienteles. My experience in OT has equipped me with the clinical skills necessary to integrate an evidence-based approach to my practice: to execute initial evaluations, establish client and family centered goals, and carry out the corresponding intervention plans, both in the individual and group settings. My strengths include empathy, active listening, critical thinking, problem solving, time and priority management, and creativity. This promotes the cultivation of trust and therapeutic rapport and facilitates ingenuity to maximize the available resources to meet the diverse needs of the clientele. Most importantly, my experience and my strengths will allow me to readily advocate for and provide services to the clients so that they can realize their goals - to optimize their independence, functioning and satisfaction with their daily occupational engagement. My experience has been in interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and discipline specific contexts, therefore providing me with the opportunity to appreciate the role that every health care provider has in the rehabilitation steps for each client. My experience in both the private and public health care and educational settings has allowed me to collaborate with stakeholders and community organizations necessary to supporting the client’s needs and allowing me to further cultivate my communication skills. My passion for learning has encouraged me to further invest in my professional development and motivated me to further cultivate my knowledge in specific interventions, models and research in a variety of health domains, and it continues to motivate me to keep up to date with recent and ongoing development in rehabilitation.
