About Taylor Shank

I started dancing 22 years ago at a local Studio. I never thought growing up I would have achieved as much as I have. The 3 year old Taylor would be proud to know that her dreams would become a reality. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Dance and Secondary Education, and a Minor in Interpersonal Communication Studies. I have since started my career at Kempner High School in Fort Bend ISD, and have completed 3 years of teaching. It amazes me how quickly time flies and how many students I have met and impacted within those 3 years. I was able to establish a Junior Varsity Dance team for our campus and have given them a name and positive reputation on our campus. I feel it is important for every student on our campus to feel important and have a sense of belonging. My schools motto that I have greatly implied in my teaching and in my personal life is "Breaking down barriers and building bridges." This motto completely changed my outlook on being a Teacher and I love every moment of it! I truly enjoy seeing my students go on to be on their college dance teams, becoming teachers, nurses, doctors, EMS, and even NFL Cheerleaders. Some of my students made me tear up at graduation simply because they were either the first to graduate in their family, finally earned all required credits, or overcame the negatives surrounding them. Teaching is something I thoroughly enjoy and will continue to do for many years.
