About Taylor Trimble

I'm Taylor Trimble, a 2L Public Interest Public Service (PIPS) scholar at American University Washington College of Law on a full-tuition scholarship. This semester, I am a special education litigation extern in the Law Offices of Keith Howard. Previous to this experience, I have held various internships within the nonprofit and government sectors.For instance, last semester, I was a legal extern for the Safe Sisters Circle, a nonprofit that provides free, holistic services to Black women survivors of domestic violence who reside East of the Anacostia River. Previous to this experience, I interned at the Education Law Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where I drafted a disability discrimination complaint to Philadelphia DHS, co-wrote a published policy brief on nondiscrimination in dressing and grooming codes, and handled various intake calls regarding exclusionary discipline and special education.Outside of my legal experience, I worked for the Urban Institute's Office of Policy Impact for a few years during both undergrad and law school and interned at the Brookings Institution's Race, Prosperity, and Inclusion Initiative, the Office of Representative Marilyn Strickland, and the 2nd District Cook County Commissioner. My passion for children and families, namely through opportunities in education law, family law, and domestic violence law is persistent.
