About Teah Moore

I have been teaching in higher education for nearly twenty years. I have had the privilege of being in leadership as a faculty member. My favorite part of my job has been mentoring. I really enjoyed taking BIPOC students to conferences, seminars, and trainings. I have conducted research with them and have enjoyed presenting with them. The grants I write are for the opportunities to create opportunities for the students I serve. Not only do I mentor students, but I mentor future faculty. I know how hard this road can be, especially for BIPOC faculty. We lack allies, and our credibility, skills, talents, and abilities are always questioned despite the proof. Since 2009, I have been involved in the accreditation process for several programs. In 2019, I came to Louisville, KY, to build a clinical mental health counseling program from nothing and obtain accreditation for it. Now, in 2022, we are looking at a site visit from the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). I am very proud of the finished work, and the conferment of accreditation will be the seal of approval. Clearly, knowing who I am is a superpower. There's power in self-believe. Someone's opinion of me cannot become my reality when I have evidence to the contrary. There's power in where you focus. Vision is important. Don't laser in on the wrong things. Focus on solutions and not on winning the debate.
