Plans are worthless, but planning is essential.~Dwight D. Ted E. Lohr has 40+ years of experience in emergency management, public safety, and emergency services. He started at the age of 15 as a cadet in the US Air Force auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol (CAP) where he developed the passion for helping those in need. He excelled in search and rescue and emergency services. He was one of the only Cadet Ground Search & Rescue Team Leaders at that time in Illinois. The CAP was instrumental in Mr. Lohr taking an EMT course at the age of 18 and beginning his life long EMS and fire service career, later becoming a licensed Paramedic and a Fire Officer and Instructor. Throughout the years he worked in Emergency Management as a liaison between many disciplines including the Fire Service, EMS, SAR, CAP, Law Enforcement, Amateur Radio, Cave Rescue, and the military. He currently has his FEMA and Illinois PDS certifications. Mr. Lohr has logged an extensive amount of hours in training and actual emergency responses. He also has a passion for instructing in the disciplines he has great knowledge in. Mr. Lohr is a fire service and EMS lead instructor as well a former Battalion Chief at the St. Louis Public Schools Fire & EMS Academy in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a Lead Instructor for the Illinois Search & Rescue Council and had taught numerous Search and Rescue related classes in Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Mr. Lohr has extensive experience in radio communications. He holds an FCC Amateur Radio (General class) License as well as a Master Communicator rating in the Civil Air Patrol. He is a FEMA type 3 All Hazards Communications Unit Leader, FEMA type 3 All Hazards Communications Technician, and Auxiliary Communicator (Aux-Comm). Mr. Lohr does not only rely on his previous training and experience, but He also continues his education and training to improve every day. He prefers to work as part of a team but can get the job done with or without help. Mr. Lohr believes in customer service and community outreach. Mr. Lohr currently works full time as a Emergency Management Specialist for the Grundy County (IL) Emergency Management Agency as well as serving as a certified fire department safety officer for the French Village Fire Department. He was also a contract COVID Safety Officer at a large-scale state operated vaccination site for the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.
