About Ted Fournier

Account Manager for the Safariland Group specializing in hard and soft body armor, duty and tactical gear. My background comes from law enforcement, specializing in firearms and tactics training. I retired from the New York State Police where my last assignment was at the Academy as a Senior Firearms Instructor and as an Acting Technical Sergeant overseeing the recruit firearms training program. My duties included providing lead instruction of the live-fire program, active shooter and rapid response training, curriculum and program development and implementation, range safety, in-service training, maintaining training records, armory maintenance and records, research and development and continued development and training of the firearms training cadre as well as field members. I continuously sought outside training and am a certified instructor in many firearms and tactic disciplines. I drew from this training to develop the NYSP firearms training program into a more progressive, performance-based program incorporating many aspects of Discovery Learning and accountability that received many positive accolades from the trainees as well as command staff. I also used these skills to develop and hone my own personal, leadership, and mentorship skills and successfully apply them in a lead instructor and supervisory role. I continue to train while also working with Safariland to provide some of the best equipment to officers and operators, alike. Having this specialized background allows me to better understand and agency's and team's missions and needs to face potential threats and to successfully complete their missions, safely.
