About Ted Harris

First of all I am a Husband, a father of 7 (4 girls and 3 boys), the grandfather of 20,(don't ask how many are boys and how many are girls, I could figure it out but it might take a little time.) I have a firm faith in God and strive to be honest in all of my dealings with others. I have worked with the Boy Scouts of America for many years, although the highest rank I got was a First Class Scout. I served my country during the Vietnam conflict (they didn't call it a war then). After returning from the military in 1972 I started school at Weber State University and graduated from there with a degree in Business Management in June 1976. I started as a Loan Officer in 1975 with Commercial Security Bank. I had a great following of Realtors and builders meeting in their offices taking applications for FHA, VA, and Conventional loans. In 1978, I left Commercial Security Bank and went to work for American Home Mortgage, and after just a few months with them, I left them and went to work for the Colwell Company as the branch manager. I was hired by United Savings Bank working as a loan officer and branch manager. I managed a staff of fifteen people including loan officers, processors closers and savings staff. I started my own company Harris Mortgage Co, LLC in 1997. I had a great business with loan officer’s processors, closers and some IT people. On 15 November 2006, I took over the management of Barnes Banking Company. At the time, the bank was considering closing the department because it was not very profitable. I began making changes and at the end of the second year with the bank our profit went from $6,500.00 for the year to profit for the year ended 2008. Our department was named to the President’s Club for the most best all round department of the bank. Again, in 2009 our department managed to show a similar profit. I completed the required education and testing and started with Academy Mortgage in January of 2011.
