About Ted Henderson

Ted is a SQL Server database administrator working with SQL Server 2019 at Sandhills Global in Lincoln, Nebraska. I’m starting to learn my way around the Sandhills Global database environment, with the help of some talented DBA’s. I’m more of a production support DBA, not really a developer. Last year I completed AWS cloud practitioner and Microsoft Azure fundamentals certification. Ted has worked at a variety of top companies in the Lincoln and Omaha metro area, including ConAgra, Mutual of Omaha (consultant), CSI, Omaha Public Schools, TekSystems, First Data Corp, and recently finished a short but rewarding stint at Rocket Central, one of the family of companies at Rocket Mortgage based in Detroit, MI. Specialties: Experience with complex production environments in the insurance, food industry, and financial software and other database environments large and small, primarily on virtualized servers. Utilizing VMs in standalone, failover clustering, and AO availability groups. Performance tuning and analyzing database issues such as blocking, contention as well as other hardware and software issues. Setup and maintain backups, indexing and database integrity. Ensuring the little things are taken care of so fire calls are not needed. Hobbies: Enjoys traveling to other cities, states, and countries. Visited Yellowstone and Zion National parks for the first time last year. Military Experience: Force Protection & Signal Officer. Began his military career as a Private E1, received his commission as an officer 10 years later and retired as CPT, Signal Officer, Platoon leader, Company Commander, Brigade Signal Officer, and Force Protection Officer. Deployed to Kosovo with the Nebraska Army National guard on a peace keeping mission in 2001, and retired in 2002.
