About Ted Teo

I am a first-year business student at Singapore Management University. I have a strong interest in finance and will be looking to pursue a future career in finance. I was previously from the Bicultural Studies Programme in secondary school and junior college, where I was able to take subjects such as China Studies in Chinese and American Literature. I managed to gain significant insight into China's economy, society, political system and management of international relations, developing a more comprehensive understanding of contemporary China as well as her challenges. Through American novels such as The Joy Luck Club and The Great Gatsby, I learnt more about the struggles of early Chinese immigrants in America and the dangers of blindly pursuing the American Dream. As part of the programme, I was fortunate to have been given the opportunity to visit both China and the US on separate school immersion trips. During the 2-month long trip to China, we visited various cities such as Chongqing, Xi An, Beijing and Tianjin as well as attended classes at the High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University and the High School Affiliated to Beijing Normal University. The 2-week visit to the US allowed us to explore Virginia and get to meet students from Dominion High School. As it was my first time visiting these two countries, it was an eye-opening experience that deepened my global exposure.
