Background
About Temeika Howard
I am consistently pleasant, tackling all assignments with dedication and a smile. I have over 35 years of experience taking on a caretaking role. Starting at age 8, I assisted a family friend in the caretaking of 6 month old twins whom were adopted. Besides being a joy to work with, I do not mind being a take-charge person who is able to present creative ideas and communicate the benefits. I am a team player and would be a great asset to any organization. True believer in working smart not hard. I am a LPN of Athens Technical College C/O 2010. I come with a wide array of experience that will complement the skills and knowledge required of an LPN. I worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant for over 3 years in a nursing home setting as wells as home care settings. During my tenure as a CNA, I worked primarily with elderly patient who were either physically disabled, and/or suffered from an array of mental disabilities. I was the eyes and ears for the charge nurse as to resident’s/patient’s current and past condition. I have found that becoming a CNA was a stepping stone for my pursuit of becoming an LPN. I worked briefly as a Registered Medical Assistant in Orthopedic, Internal Medicine and Neurology. My clinical experience as a CNA will assist me in becoming more versatile as an LPN. I work also with medically fragile kids, assisting in G-tube feedings, central venous line care and pump and monitoring and managing ventilators and trach. I assisted a 17 year old medically fragile special needs child onto and off school bus child each school day and attended each class with the child to assist with g tube feedings, tracheotomy care and suctioning. and peritoneal care after removing soiled briefs. During my years of work experience, there was often conflict, and occasionally confrontation. While setting limits, I managed to respond consistently with respect and compassion. The experience had a profound effect on those around me in addition to my possession of exceptional skills and professionalism. One will find my qualities to be a valuable asset in the healthcare industry. I have the ultimate long term goal of one day becoming a RN nurse and further advancing my career to become a Family Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Anesthetist. Other aspirations include owning and operating a personal care home and/or adult day care.
