About Tena Williams

I have spent a combined total of twenty-five years in the Early Childhood Education industry. As a seasoned veteran, I have owned, directed, taught, and consulted for centers licensed capacity ranging from 24 students to 450. I have experience as a preschool teacher and director and have worked with children from infancy through high school. My primary interests are technological and sociological influences on young children, early childhood education. I have a strong conviction regarding the importance of identifying and developing learning styles, gifts, and talents within each child. I am most interested in assisting in the development and use of state-of-the-art technology in classrooms. I am committed to ensuring the use of consistent, non-threatening discipline, the increase of motor development, providing curriculum that increases a child’s hunger to learn, establishing age appropriate activities, music enrichment, and staff development. I am committed to improving public awareness related to the importance of early childhood education, and the professional development of early childhood educators. My personal area of proficiency addresses the influence of educational and parenting strategies on young children's academic achievement, motivation to learn, and self-concept. I designed and supervised a variety of programs focusing on identifying and developing the gifts, talents and learning styles of young children. I am currently gathering research for a new book that addresses the impact of today’s technology on young children. I currently operate a child development consulting business, “The Learning Train”, an organization which offers a vast variety of workshops, training, and technical support and consultation for center directors, early childhood educators, and staff. Additionally, I am an active member of Bastrop Christian Outreach Center, where I assist with the Christian Education Department, working with students from preschool through Jr. High.
