About Tennell Lockett

I am an intellectual property (“IP”) attorney with extensive experience in patent, trademark and Internet matters. After nearly a decade practicing IP law at one of Atlanta’s largest law firms (Alston & Bird, LLP), my law partner and I launched Townsend & Lockett, LLC in 2010, a business law firm located in the heart of midtown Atlanta. Since then, we have thoughtfully grown and positioned Townsend & Lockett to provide high-caliber service offerings traditionally reserved for large law firms, including mergers and acquisitions, bond work, securities, IP, real estate transactions and litigation, and complex business transactions and litigation. I absolutely love to play in the IP and technology space, and have always held a particular personal intrigue for electrical and mechanical technologies and well-managed brands. I find nearly every area of business fascinating and enjoy learning a client’s business model, objectives and operations in developing legal solutions to support the business function. I have had the fortune to service and build relationships at every level of business, from Fortune 500 organizations and mid-cap companies, to start-ups and sole inventors. My practice focuses on three areas: IP adversarial; trademark portfolio management and prosecution; and IP and technology transactions. My IP adversarial practice includes Federal patent and trademark litigation, IP enforcement, administrative proceedings (e.g, USPTO Opposition proceedings, ITC Exclusion Order proceedings), and UDRP proceedings. My trademark management and prosecution practice includes portfolio advisement, search, clearance and opinion work, application filing and management, and maintenance. My IP and technology transaction practice includes negotiating and drafting IP and technology agreements (incl. licenses, assignments, restrictive covenants, confidentiality agrmts, co-existence agrmts, etc.), and IP diligence and covenant drafting as a component of corporate transactions.
