Teresa Mateus, MSW, E-RYT 200 is a teacher, author, speaker, trauma specialist, contemplative practice teacher working for healing individuals, communities, and change-makers/social movements. She graduated from NYU with a Masters in Clinical Social Work, studied Sivananda Yoga and is an initiated Paqo in the Andean ancestral healing tradition. She is a community-based Full Spectrum Doula centering care for BIPOC/QTBIPOC communities including Abortion and Grief/Loss Doula care/support. She consults on issues of: trauma + healing, healing justice + health equity, multi-dimensional organizational equity, nonprofit management - programs, grants, BIPOC/QTBIPOC/LGBTQIA+ care and education, spiritual + religious trauma, ancestral and indigenous practice, healing and resilience, social movement trauma + healthy movement building, creative arts + integrative medicine, among other areas that intersect spirituality, social change and healing. Teresa is the author of three books: Mending Broken: A Journey Through the Stages of Trauma & Recovery, Sacred Wounds: A Path to Healing from Spiritual Trauma, and Going Naked: The Camino de Santiago & Life as Pilgrimage. Her first novel is a work in progress grounded in Andean Cosmology which she describes as a decolonized Indiana Jones and magical adventure. Her second book Sacred Wounds is preparing for a SECOND EDITION LAUNCH coming in 2025 with expanded and updated content and new chapters! She is a current PhD Student at California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in Philosophy - Integral Ecology Track. Her area of research and study centers Andean cosmologies and futurism, engaging interspecies relationality in the Colombian and Peruvian Andes, and the struggle for liberation in the territories of embodiment for land/the natural world and human embodiment (with a focus on the theme of womb-bearing, the Andes as a cosmological womb, reclamation of Andean ancestral womb-care practices, and liberating wombed embodiment).
