Being a barrister is not just a career, it’s a way of life. I feel immensely privileged to be able to help and support individuals throughout what is often the most difficult periods of their life. A little bit about me: As a highly motivated and determined individual I hold myself to the highest standards, seek out opportunities and thrive on working under pressure as well as overcoming obstacles. I never compromise on my integrity, fairness, and friendliness. I quickly form positive working relationships with all those I meet. Confident in my work and always ready to stand by my legal submissions, there was an occasion where I almost hoped my application would be opposed, so I could outline exactly why it was correct and just. Notable work: Experiences prior to joining the bar: Prior to qualifying as a barrister, I had carved out a career supporting various vulnerable individuals with a real focus of setting up different programmes and providing personalised support in the hope of steering young people away from the criminal justice system and a life of crime. Before working closely with young people, I worked in a role where I was responsible for the day to day running (and challenges of running) 3 different hostels for those recently released from prison. In this role, I implemented a number of changes and programmes which allowed support staff to work closely with people, offering not only emotional support but practical help securing opportunities for employment and housing. Essentially, the programmes helped people re-build their lives with the hope they would not re-offend. The changes I implemented over a 12m period had many overall positive outcomes as well as personalised individual success stories.
