About Terri Owens

Biotechnology student and aspiring project manager with a passion for advancing scientific discovery and improving lives through research. I’m currently completing a BS in Biotechnology at the University of Maryland Global Campus, with a focus on project management and hands-on laboratory training.I recently began a summer internship at Athari Biosciences, where I’m supporting viral vector development and entry assays as part of a cutting-edge gene therapy team. My internship builds on a strong academic foundation in biology, genetics, and chemistry, as well as certifications in lab safety, aseptic technique, documentation, and numeracy. My 8-year career as a union casino bartender sharpened my interpersonal, multitasking, and crisis management skills in high-pressure environments. I’ve also worked as a project coordinator and medical assistant, where I led cross-functional teams, supported patient care, and ensured operational efficiency.I’m committed to using both my technical training and lived experience to help bring innovative biotechnologies from bench to bedside while championing inclusive, mission-driven work environments.
