Infection Prevention and Control Nurse Specialist As the Infection Prevention and Control Nurse Specialist I act as a resource and role model in order to help create an environment that will promote the safety of clients, visitors and staff. I take the lead in prevention and control of infection by ensuring application of best practice guidance in infection control across the organisation. My responsibilities include: To act as a role model for infection control practices within the organisation. To ensure implementation of evidence based infection control policies and disseminate new policies and guidelines. To assist in the provision of infection control training as appropriate to individual departments. To coordinate and contribute to the training and development of IPC Lead nurses/midwifes throughout the organisation. To facilitate infection control surveillance activities as appropriate to the organisation. To assist with the facilitation of infection control committee meetings and to attend organisational specific meetings relating to infection control. To attend external infection control meetings as appropriate to the organisation. Liaising with external infection control personnel as appropriate to the organisation.
