Health and Safety Role: ¨ Effectively leverage operational experience to introduce and sustain safe practices in both warehouse and transportation operations. Understanding the balance between appropriate risk and eliminating risk is critical when designing a program and gaining field support. Actively work with other Regional Managers to develop and enhance Corporate Health and Safety policies and procedures. Member of safety leadership team that establishes the implementation process, compliance reviews and effectiveness measures on all new or modified programs. Key resource for field personnel in answering questions or interpreting regulation language for Federal and State OSHA, EPA and DOT standards along with internal Penske policies. Responsible for budgeting and goal setting. Accountable for trends and results. Develop and deliver region and location specific training. Drive results through execution of tactical and strategic strategies that are core to the training matrix. Take lead position in major accident and injury investigations as well as any agency visits or audits. Work closely with insurance and risk departments to reduce financial exposure resulting from claims activity. As Mid-Atlantic GM, I manage multiple warehouse and fleet operations. Responsibilities included: All P&L forecasts and results, contract renewal and compliance activity, direct customer contact and relations, champion for all corporate health & safety initiatives, performance metric generation and reviews, and any other customer driven initiatives such as lean process or green belt/black belt quality projects.
