About Terry Collins

I am an experienced and successful project manager and scrum master who believes that the single biggest predictor of a team's success is the leadership they are provided. Leaders who instill a culture of empowerment and trust and a commitment to excellence can draw from their teams a level of performance they have never experienced before. I seek always to be such a leader. From 2008 - 2014, I lived and worked for DST Systems in Bangkok, Thailand, where I was a mentor and consultant to software project managers. While in Bangkok, I co-created a leadership development program and facilitated multiple weekly leadership development sessions. In addition, I was direct and indirect supervisor to over fifty associates. I repatriated to our Kansas City office in 2014. Subsequent to my time in Thailand, I served as scrum master in a group that was just beginning to utilize agile project practices, then as talent development manager working with multiple scrum teams. Helping the group transition to agile project development has been richly rewarding. Most recently I was asked to fill the role of offshoring coordinator, acting as liaison between offshore managers and their counterparts in the US. I also liaise between one of our largest clients and our India office in the area of risk management. In addition to my offshoring coordinator role, I also developed and oversaw a marginal gains program, encouraging associates to identify small process improvements which may lead to significant savings, and helping them to implement these changes and document them. Already, this program has identified changes which will realize tens of thousands of dollars in savings. In addition, I have a passion outstanding leadership. I have facilitated leadership development groups in our Bangkok office and here in the U.S. Currently, I facilitate a leadership book study for managers in our group.
