About Terry Kaplan

After 11 years in Engineering Consulting, I shifted gears into the Telecom Industry. I am currently Manager for the Operations Capital Management Team with TELUS. In my current role I lead a team that manages over $1.5B of Capital network and digital projects for deployment of our PureFibre, 5G network, customer app enhancements and functionality and AI development supporting TELUS FueliX. My team engages with and supports transformational cross-functional strategic projects, leading annual and quarterly planning and forecasting, review of program financial accuracy, capital efficiency metrics and development of process improvement systems related to AI data gathering, analysis and reporting. I build and sustain positive internal and external client relationships, focusing on strategic partnerships to ensure programs outcomes and financial accuracy targets are met. I have experience with ISO 9001 systems and I have been responsible for developing and maintaining related quality management systems and processes through all project stages. This has included tracking forms and project files and representing the environmental team during annual ISO audits. My successful completion of the UBC Certificate in Project Management (Sustainability Management) has expanded and enhanced my project management skills including team management, conflict resolution, stakeholder engagement and change management. I thrive in a dynamic, high growth and multi-tasking project oriented environment. I am meticulous and process-driven while also able to see the big picture. I am a quick learner, organized and have many years of experience coaching and training staff. I currently volunteer my time with the TELUS Wise program, delivering free digital literacy workshops to students grades 2-12, parents, adults, and teachers. When not working, I spend time with my wife & daughter, travelling around the Greater Vancouver area seeking out the next great foodie adventure. We enjoy travelling (when not in a pandemic) and quiet time involves building LEGO and supporting my daughter's burgeoning scrunchie making business!
