This study was primarily conducted at Lynch Farms. “Bird Populations in Winged Deer Park,” January - May 2011, Johnson City, Tennessee: This study was conducted in order to examine the variety of bird species, as well as their frequencies and habitats, at Winged Deer Park in Johnson City, TN. “Effect of Vitamin K1 on Cell Growth Inhibition and Apoptosis on the U937 Cell Line,” August – December 2010, Johnson City, Tennessee: This study was performed in order to examine the treatment of the U937 lymphoma cell line with Vitamin K1. This study was conducted under the supervision of cell biologist and professor Dr. Hugh Miller of East Tennessee State University. Laboratory Experience: Chemistry Research Assistant, 2011 – 2012, East Tennessee State University – Johnson City, Tennessee: Under the guidance of Dr. Aleksey Vasiliev and Thomas Simerly, I assisted in the preparation and synthesis of bis-indenyl iodide compounds, as well as performed and analyzed nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopies, in order to assess the purity of the compounds we synthesized.
