About Tess Crain

I joined KGD in 2012 and have since worked as a designer, project architect, and project manager on a variety of projects. In 2018 I completed my ARE's and obtained my Architecture License in the state of Virginia, and am registered with AIA and NCARB. While I specializes in multifamily residential my experience ranges from commercial base building to retail interiors. I enjoy a client focused approach to design, and find fulfillment in creating inspiring environments. I appreciate the importance of every phase of a projects and seek to maintain an active role from start to finish. While earning my Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech, I also pursued a minor in industrial design and a study abroad in Switzerland. I was an active student involved in the Residential Leadership Community and several outdoor activity programs including Sailing Club. I bring my positive energy and leadership skills to the office through internal involvement in recruiting efforts, social committee, and design competitions. I am an active member of ULI, and participate in other industry organizations such as CREW, NAIOP, and HAND. I am always looking for opportunities to connect and give back within the design community through fundraising events including; Cosmo Couture, Canstruction, Make-a-wish, and DCBIA Community improvement days. As a mother of two, I draw strength and inspiration from nature. On the weekends I enjoy adventuring with my family by taking out our boat on the Potomac River, or hitting a trail in Shenandoah to marvel at the views.
