About Tess Lanzarotta

I work at the intersection of global health, health advocacy, and public communication by translating complex scientific and ethical issues into clear and persuasive messages. With over 15 years of experience as a researcher, writer, and educator, I bring a clear understanding of how science, policy, and history shape public health. I also believe that well-crafted strategic communication can lead to better public health outcomes.I hold a Ph.D. from Yale University’s Program in the History of Science and Medicine and have published widely in peer-reviewed journals and public outlets, including the American Journal of Public Health, Social Studies of Science, The Boston Review, The Washington Post, and Slate. My work has focused on vaccine production, vaccine hesitancy, research ethics, Indigenous health, and health care delivery, particularly in contexts shaped by legacies of colonialism and injustice. These experiences inform my current work supporting clinical trials and science policies that are transparent, ethical, participant-centered, and globally relevant.Across academic and applied settings, I have collaborated with interdisciplinary teams, engaged diverse stakeholders, written successful grants, designed educational materials, and spoken publicly to broad audiences. I am especially interested using science communication to maintain trust between researchers, participants, policymakers, and the public.
