About Tess McLean

I graduated from Millikin University in 2016 with a double major in English writing and literature and a minor in publishing and editing. Through my college experiences, I balanced my academics, athletics, and social involvement. I learned to think critically, paid attention to detail, and constantly found ways to improve my work. After college I worked for June Media for three months as an intern. During my internship experience, I researched recipes, wrote content for betterrecipes.com, and learned about what all goes into a website. The working environment taught me how much I value working with others toward a common goal. When I left June Media, I worked for White House Black Market and found a passion for customer service. I greatly enjoyed assisting customers with their needs and helping them leave the store feeling fulfilled. Working with White House Black Market helped me find confidence in myself to see a situation and make the best decision possible. After I got married and moved to live with my husband, I kept to my customer service and retail interests by working for Family Video. At Family Video I needed to think on my feet and make managerial decisions, as the store manager was not always present during our shifts. Although I experienced a great deal of autonomy in this position, I found myself missing the relationships I built while working on a team rather than independently. I now am searching for the opportunity to continue my professional growth as my husband and I move to Southfield, Michigan. I have a great deal of willingness to learn about new opportunities, I know how to prioritize tasks, and I am ready to push my way through a busy work environment to make sure the best product is put out. I find value in creating multiple drafts and edits to make sure everything is polished as can be, and I am always there to lend a hand when others need it. I'm excited for any new learning opportunities that may come my way.
