About Tetsuya Mori

Based in Tokyo, Tetsuya currently serves as Director of New Business Development at Emerald Technology Ventures, focusing on helping one of its LPs, Nabtesco Corporation, build a business from the ground up using open innovation methodologies. In addition, he is responsible for identifying opportunities, providing deal evaluation, assisting with deal monitoring, and supporting deal structuring and closing with the broader Emerald team. Alternatively, he serves as CEO of Innovation EDGE Partners, a consulting firm specializing in corporate-startup engagement, which he founded in late 2021. Prior to joining Emerald, he served as CEO of Sumitomo Plastics America, located in the heart of Silicon Valley. He led the semiconductor materials business and new business creation at the intersection of startups and several established organizations. As a result, he understands the Japanese manufacturing corporate culture and the global startup ecosystem. Tetsuya holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Hydrocarbon Chemistry from Kyoto University and a professional degree in MOT from Tokyo University of Science. He speaks fluent English and Japanese.
