About Tevfik Bayram
Short biography I am a Kurd, a member of one of the largest unrecognized nations in the world. I am currently a Public Health (Health Promotion) PhD candidate at the University of Montreal, QC, Canada. I completed my Medical education and Public Health Residency at the Marmara University (Istanbul-Turkey) in 2012, 2019 respectively. I completed my Master of Public Health at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, in 2016. My main areas of research are health inequities, oppression, empowerment and the health of vulnerable populations. My master's thesis was on health inequities between various ethnic/religious populations in Jerusalem; and Residency thesis on migrant women’s access to healthcare in Switzerland. I have also led a research project investigating the oppression and language barriers that Kurds face in accessing Turkish healthcare services. In my doctoral thesis I focus on structural determinants of empowerment using the case of unaccompanied refugee minors in Montreal. Please see my publications here: & hl=en & oi=ao
