About Tevin Douglas

Hey, glad you stopped by! My name is Tevin. I am 28 years old. Originally from Owensboro Kentucky but have spent the better part of my life in New Albany, Indiana. I graduated in 2012 from New Albany High School. Later I went on to study telecommunications at Indiana University Bloomington where I was fortunate to receive a full scholarship from the 21st Century Scholars program, but ultimately I left college early and never finished my degree. When I was 22 I began a career in production where I received a certification for Welding. I chose to pursue welding for the money at first, but I quickly realized that I actually really enjoyed the craft. I have been welding for about 7 years now. I do still enjoy it but have realized the longevity potential just isn’t right. Welding actually takes a toll on your body inside and out (who would have ever thought that aha). I have found it useful in life to learn different trades. Along with my welding career, I am also a licensed barber in the state of Indiana. Early in 2021 I began talking about going back to school to finish my degree, although not sure what I wanted to study as I didn’t see myself benefiting from a communications degree anymore at that point in my life. What I did know was that I love to use my hands and mind to create things. For example, in 2020 I bought an old Uhaul Truck which I converted into a mobile barber shop equip with electricity, a water system, and even a tv/entertainment system, all by watching Youtube videos. The barber truck is legal and licensed in the state of Indiana. I love to problem solve, so while I was researching what other career fields had to offer I stumbled across Software Development. I looked into that more in depth until I finally decided to take the leap. Currently I am working to build my portfolio/resume so that when I graduate in July 2023 I am ready to hit the ground running Wish me luck! And thanks for your time
