About Thad Faulkner

Interested in Information Technology with a focus in Cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is an important discipline. Security breaches are so prevalent in today's world. Trends show that ransomware attacks are ever growing. My mission is to help protect both the public and the private sector against such threat agents by securing vulnerabilities. My passion is to increase awareness and understanding in the public and private sector so that people are aware of the threats and vulnerabilities and the importance of cybersecurity. I have completed my Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology at Pace University, Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Technology. I have also successfully achieved a Cybersecurity AAS Degree and Cybersecurity Certificate from Westchester Community College. Over the course of my academic career, I have completed multiple projects involving cybersecurity, where I was able to gain hands on experience that prepared me for a full time role within the Cybersecurity field. For instance, I collaborated within a team of fifteen to create a virtual environment for high school students to test their computer hacking skills. To complete this project, I was assigned the task of creating a virtual environment as well as having the team test it out before the event. I set up the virtual environment using Ubuntu and placed flags around the OS for the students to locate. While working as an IT intern during the summer of 2019, I managed and led a team of 12 interns in effectively upgrading and rewiring the server for the computer lab at Westchester Community College. We were able to complete the upgrade in a timely manner, while also running frequent security checks to ensure that the server did not interfere with the school network. In addition to these two projects I also served as a Cybersecurity Tutor at Westchester Community College for two years and provided IT services and network security checks which included Tech support. My passion is to effectively apply my technical skills to help businesses achieve their goals and provide actionable intelligence using data manipulation.
