I am a seasoned professional specialising in Brand Communications, Public Relations, and Corporate Communications. In my current role as the General Manager (GM): Global PR, Communications, and Stakeholder Relations at South African Tourism I communicate messages that drive growth, build trust, and foster collaboration. I joined South African Tourism in 2009, as a Communications Manager where I have held various roles before being appointed GM: Global PR, Communications, and Stakeholder Relations in 2022. This follows a successful tenure at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), where, between 2002 and 2009, I held an array of roles and functions in Stakeholder Management, Brand Management and Promotion as well as Publicity and Communications. Equipped with a Journalism and Economics degree from Rhodes University and further honed by my extensive experience, I posses an innate ability to engage diverse audiences effectively. In 2013 I obtained an MBA degree from Milpark Business School, providing me with a solid foundation for navigating the complex intersections of business and communication. This strong academic background, paired with my journalistic expertise, has given me a unique perspective in the Communications space — particularly spanning both the government sector, and private sectors. My articulate and eloquent yet simple communication style is a part of my professional strengths. I combine technical acumen with soft human skills that make me an empathetic leader and trusted advisor. I also currently dedicate my time outside of work to serving in the Governing Council of Sunshine Association, an NPO that manages learning centres for children with disabilities. I also have a talent for public speaking and moderating panel discussions. In 2019, I was honoured by the South African weekly newspaper, Mail & Guardian, with the recognition of “Women Changing South Africa”, a testament to my ability to bridge sectors and amplify the positive stories. My passions extend beyond my career. I am a strong advocate for health, fitness, and clean living, embodying the belief that well-being is central to a fulfilling life. Above all, I am passionate about people and cherish my friendships.
