About Thando Gabela

Appointed General Manager: Regional Finance WECA Region in January 2019 and prior I headed MTN Group Corporate Performance Management where I led the group management reporting, business planning programme and corporate finance function. Since joining MTN in 2007, I have held various roles in finance, business intelligence, customer operations and sales. I am currently a director of various MTN Group companies and also chair multiple Audit Risk Committees. Prior to MTN, I was employed by Standard Bank Group and Curious Pictures. I am a qualified Chartered Global Management Accountant and hold a Cost Management Accounting bachelor’s degree. I am an alumni of executive programs at London Business School and IMD Business School.In my current role, I partner with the Vice President of the region, Finance Executive Financial Planning & Analysis, and the operational leadership teams to achieve the strategic and operational goals of the operations in the region. I provide the link between Group Finance and Operating Companies Finance. Drive excellency within the West & Central Africa region by sharing best practise within group to WECA ExCom teams & ensuring execution of group mandate. With focus on profitability, sustainable returns, cash generation, healthy balance sheet and risk management.
