About Thando Matamela

With over 10 years of experience in the mining industry, I am a Laboratory Technologist at Anglo American, where I apply my Postgraduate Diploma in Chemistry and my expertise in analytical chemistry and method validation, accomponied with my extensive knowlegde of ISO 17025 and 9001. I am responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of the laboratory analysis and reporting, using various analytical instruments, such as X-ray fluorescence, Thermogravimetry analysis, ICP-OES, Diluters, HPLC, and GC. I am passionate about learning and teaching, and I have gained skills and certifications in gas cylinder handling and incident investigation, which enable me to maintain, operate, and troubleshoot the instruments and ensure the safety of the laboratory. I work well in a team as well as independently, and I have been a safety representative and a team leader in my department, achieving zero safety non-conformances and consistently meeting our targets and deadlines. I am looking to grow and contribute to an organization that believes in the growth of its employees and the value of analytical chemistry.
