About Thembeka Buleni

Dr Thembeka Buleni started her career in dentistry shortly after she graduated in 2007 from Medical University of South Africa (Medunsa). In 2010 she started her own practice, Smilez Dental Surgery where she continues nourishing her love for dentistry on a daily basis. She acquired her second degree in Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2016. She majored in financial management. She is a founder of Dental Practice Management Academy, where she is focused on mentoring and coaching for Dentist. She is also a keynote speaker. She is a guest Dentist on the local TV show Wraak my mooi, cosmetic makeover show on DSTV 147, where she improves the Dental appearance and smiles for the candidates. She is a runner up candidate for the Health Excellence Mpumalanga award, Dentist of the year in 2019 and 2022. She one of the winners of the Smart integration Awards 2021, innovative infection control & prevention category. Being the only representative in South Africa and Africa at large and being the first to win this category from Africa. Her passion for dentistry & business management skills have enabled her to create a system that makes running a practice manageable and efficient. She is a Co-author of the book Life business minds, her topic is “ A heart for Dentistry and a mind for Business “ In 2024 she Completed her studies in MSc Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry at Ulster University.
