About Theodoros Antonopoulos

I have worked for eleven years as Head Coach at Soccer Academy level and five years as Assistant Coach (Superleague Greece 1). During the first four years of my coaching career (2006-11) I worked at soccer academies in the region of Athens. Then in 2012, I started working for Apollon Smyrnis F. C. Academy (where I stayed for sixe years 2011-17), which was certainly an upgrade for my career. At the same time, I was licensed as UEFA A Coach in 2013 (finished the UEFA B diploma in 2011) and graduated from Athens University (Sports Science Department) in 2016 with an internship in Soccer. I speak fluently 4 languages, Greek, English (Cambridge Lower), French (Delf B1) and Spanish (basic knowledge-soccer specific terms). In 2017 I was promoted to the club's A team as 2nd Assistant Coach/Performance and Video Analyst. In my first season, I had the privilege to work with three very important Head Coaches: Akis Mantzios, Zoran Vulic, and Giorgos Paraschos. In my 2nd season I started as Assistant Coach with Mr. Ismael Valerien. I had also the luck to cooperate with two very important Greek soccer coaches Mr. Mantzourakis and Mr. Tennes who shared their knowledge and experience with me. In my 3rd season, I remain in my duties as Assistant Coach next to Mr. Tennes Haralampos. The team was promoted to 1st division again. Next season we achieved an easy remaining in the 1st division, under the guidance of Mr Paraschos. I had also the honor to join the coaching team of the Cyprus National Team, under the leadership of the Coach Mr Kostenoglou Nikolaos, with the role of the Chief Analyst. I started the 2021-2022 in Apollon Smyrnis FC again as Assistant Coach. I cooperated with Mr Petrakis Giannis, Marco Grote and Gianluca Festa. I followed Mr Festa when he left the club as his immediate associate in Pas Lamia FC, another team of Greek SuperLeague 1, in the middle of the season. We managed to save the team in very difficult circumstances and against all odds. Also, I continued my duties as a member of the coaching staff of Cyprus National Team until the end of the season. Last season (2022-2023) I was next to Mr Festa again, as we continued our work in Pas Lamia FC, until the end of the first round when we took separate roads with the club. My current position is Assistant Coach at Chicago Fire FC, next to Mr Klopas and Mr Kostenoglou, two very important Greek Coaches.
