Qualifications Bachelor of Arts (La Trobe); Graduate Diploma in Librarianship (RMIT) and Category One Workplace Trainer plus a wide range of short courses, single subjects and professional development activities. Experience Current: Jan 2023: Yarra Libraries: Metadata and Systems Support Librarian (9 month contract). I am continuing at Yarra libraries in a customer service role on a casual basis, which allows me to make a contribution while ensuring the flexibility which I value at this time. After leaving Ormond at the end of 2020 I joined the passionate and creative library team at Xavier where I enjoyed the opportunity to contribute to resourcing a lively student cohort with wide ranging reading interests. Tertiary Education Sector: At Ormond College, a residential College of the University of Melbourne, I was privileged to play a key role as Head of Library in creating an innovative library and information service which facilitated self-directed learning and knowledge creation among the student community. Ormond has a strong academic and reading tradition which the the library supported and developed with a number of innovative programs. Secondary Education Sector: While at Wesley College, I enjoyed the opportunity to actively engage and partner with teachers and with students in their learning, assisting with information literacy development and research skills and providing curriculum support to the VCE/VET and the International Baccalaureate. Developed information resources for the online environment. Community Sector: My belief in the transformative potential of access to relevant, accurate information, carried through into roles at Lifeline Crisis Counselling Service, Camcare and Community Information Victoria, where I maintained community referral databases, produced a Community Referral Directory and trained staff and volunteers in information management and retrieval. Public libraries: I started my library career in public libraries and covered most aspects of community-based library services. I felt a strong affinity with the values base of public libraries, which exist to provide free, unlimited access to knowledge and culture, regardless of background or means and I enjoyed catering to the information needs and skills instruction of a diverse range of people in my local community. I learned the importance of good literature to entertain and inspire.
