About Thiago Marques

After 16 years working for the IT Department of one of the most significant banks in Latin America, I left Brazil to study again and initiate a fresh new life with my family in Canada. I just finished the last Term of my Game Development program and I got the final GPA of 4.2, confirming that my passion for software development made learning new concepts, languages, and subjects a joyful experience. In the NBCC's Gaming Experience Development program, I had the opportunity to review/learn C++, C#, OOP, Java.NET Core, ADO.NET, Javascript, Node.js, Kotlin, Typescript, Angular, SQL, Database design, Web Design, Software Engineering, QA Testing, and Linux CLI. The fun fact is that my whole IT Background experience was in a completely different environment: mainframes, using Cobol, JCL, DB2, VSAM, TSO, CTM and CICS. Leaving all those knowledge behind to start studying again was a challenge, but it has been so worth it. After the internship necessary for graduation, I was offered a permanent position and now I'm ready to build a long-tem relationship with the company, the same way I did when I was in Brazil. Follow some of important key points I achieve over the past years- Former Senior Mainframe System Analyst at Banco do Brasil- Experience developing software solutions for high-level platforms using Cobol, JCL, DB2, VSAM, TSO, CTM and CICS- Over ten years of experience developing solutions for EMV cards and chips- Helped to maintain and evolve the system that generates input files for all chip cards sold by BB, Visa, Mastercard, Elo/Discover and American Express- Helped the team to develop the BB Amex chip card in the 2010s - Team Technical leader for three years on an agile team responsible for maintaining and evolving the relationship and rewards program of the business clients of Banco do Brasil- One year acting on a Dev Team of the Onboarding Program agile team before coming to Canada- Experience working with teams of all sorts of sizes- With the contribution of great co-workers, I am used to delivering tasks even with tight deadlines or with high development/maintenance complexity. Beyond all of that, I'm a person with a strong interest in technology and innovation subjects. Also, I'm inquisitive and inquirer. I like understanding how things work and trying my best to accomplish personal and company goals. That's me;)
