About Thierry Verfaille

I am inspired to constantly seek out new challenges and evolve my way of thinking towards developing robust and intuitive solutions to engineering problems. I hold a BSc in Mathematics and Chemistry and a BSc(Eng) in Chemical Engineering, where I specialised in bioprocessing. I completed my honours thesis project in catalysis research, investigating new supported catalyst systems for use in the reverse water-gas shift reaction for the Power to Liquids pathway. I am currently performing research towards an MSc(Eng) in Chemical Engineering in the Catalysis Institute at the University of Cape Town, where I am investigating and optimising new supported iron-nickel catalyst systems and their associated reaction pathways for application in the reverse water-gas shift reaction over a range of identified industrial operating conditions. My passions lie in exploring new and innovative process technologies within the carbon-neutral fuels and green energy spaces, as well as those that harness biological systems. I am further motivated to develop environmentally-conscious solutions to contribute to a more sustainable future within the space of traditional industrial chemical processes. I thrive in dynamic and driven teams, where I can contribute my leadership experience to an inspiring and cooperative working environment, as well as learn from and share knowledge with like-minded professionals.
