About Thierry Weil

GOAL: To train graduate students and corporate officers to manage R&D and innovation processes and to become architects of skills networks. To contribute to the development of industry and innovation. To assist companies wanting to extend their access to technological resources by helping them to find and involve the people or organizations qualified in the needed technologies. Thierry WEIL (MSc. Ecole Polytechnique, Master in Public Administration "Corps des Mines", PhD in Physics, HDR in management science, member of the French Academy of Engineering) has hold different positions related to R&D and R&D management at Thomson (now Thales)(1984/1990). From 1991 to 1995, he has been the dean of graduate studies and VP for research of Ecole des Mines de Paris, one of the most famous French education Institute for engineering and management which gets half of its research budget from contracts (>20 M€/year contracts). He then worked on innovation management across the firms' boundaries, in Silicon Valley and in France. From December to May 2002, Thierry Weil has been the scientific advisor of the Prime minister of France Lionel Jospin. Thierry Weil has worked in France, in California and in Germany. He now works as a professor at Ecole des Mines de Paris and a consultant in the field of technology management and strategy. He is the author of eleven books, over 100 scientific papers and several patents. Since 1997, he chairs a monthly workshop on technology and innovation management. In October 2011, Thierry Weil has launched "La Fabrique de l'industrie", a think-tank dedicated to the future of industry, under the supervision of Louis Gallois, and steered it until October 2017. In January 2018, he launched an endowed chair on the future of industry and work.
