About Thijs Broerse

Hi, I'm Thijs Broerse, a passionate and highly skilled frontend expert with 20+ years of experience in web development and leadership. I excel at setting up, developing, and maintaining complex frontend systems, as well as leading international development teams. I have contributed to numerous award-winning projects and specialize in scripting and architecture. My strength lies in enhancing individuals and teams. I take pleasure in guiding people and fostering their career growth. I firmly believe in the efficiency of investing in your existing talent to make them better. This not only yields individuals who exhibit dedication, responsibility, and ownership, but also ensures they approach their work with enthusiasm and maintain a strong connection to the company. I have coached numerous developers to elevate their skills, from junior to senior, principle to team lead and director roles. As the Global Frontend Lead at MediaMonks, I managed a team of 140 Frontend developers worldwide, including the Netherlands, Argentina, Kazakhstan, and India. My extensive experience helps me understand the uniqueness of each individual and the cultural and language variations within teams. I leverage these differences to our advantage, motivating individuals and bringing out their best. Crafting exceptional websites isn't just a job for me – it's my passion. During my time at MediaMonks, the company became the world's most award-winning agency. I have a deep passion for coding and prefer to be hands-on in the projects I guide. Working closely with design, UX, backend, and QA teams, I relentlessly pursue the best outcomes. A stellar website isn't just visually appealing; it's also fast, intuitive, inclusive, secure, reliable, and features enriching animations for the user experience. To achieve an exquisite end product, the foundation must be solid. A logical architecture, legible and comprehensible code stand as essential cornerstones. Especially when working as a team, adhering to unified methodologies and standards ensures seamless collaboration. In this pursuit, I established coding standards, linting, and code reviews at MediaMonks. I am a strong advocate for TypeScript and prefer working with React, though my experience extends to Vue and Angular as well – recognizing that each project merits its distinct approach.
