About Thijs Moens

My Summary in one line: I love data. I always loved stories and research. I’m inquisitive by nature and I can have an interest in almost anything. This is why I studied Journalism and pictured a future of traveling the world and writing about it. I even had a short career in journalism. But I kind of just felt meh. I yearned to learn more, yearned to learn something different. That’s where the computer comes in. I still remember my father coming home with a computer. A big, bulky, noisy thing that worked with very large floppies and MS-DOS as the operating system. The endless times I typed C:>. So, sitting behind my laptop when it happened; the spark I was missing ignited the instant I clicked play on my first Macromedia Flash tutorial video. Since then I have spent hours making things on the web, and so it was only natural that I landed various jobs in web development. I loved it. Fast forward to today, I realized that being a developer and created insights with data are where all my passions come together. My love for research, storytelling, programming, and math. It incorporates creativity and problem-solving and I'm allowed to dive into unknown territories. I love a bunch of code with no idea what to make of it.
