You may be wondering: What does a typical day for a Laboratory Liaison at nationally-recognized hospital involve? Securing expedited testing for a patient en route to the OR. Negotiating a new standard practice with respect to Hematology/Immunosuppressant drug testing for Pediatric patients—and reducing the amount of blood collected from these children by 50%. Developing collaborative partnerships between the Clinical Laboratory and medical personnel. Guiding and educating medical staff concerning new test requirements and best practices for order placement/specimen collection. Visiting patients, listening to their experiences and learning how the Clinical Laboratory can better serve their needs. Rounding on units and providing access and visibility to a department that is central, yet mainly works behind the scenes. At UMMC, I provide solutions to patient care challenges every day. To ensure satisfactory outcomes, I draw from my more than ten years of experience in various industries, leveraging my ability to: Establish and sustain positive relationships with disparate teams and departments; prioritize and manage the often-competing needs of valued clients and departmental staff; improve quality and increase client satisfaction; be committed to the timely and efficient resolution of problems; meet the strategic needs of clients and foster open dialogue between the Clinical Laboratory and other medical services. To put it simply: I find collaborative, creative, efficient and viable ways to enhance patient care and the patient experience.The world of healthcare is transforming and clients are demanding the best.
