Background

About Thomas Bastien

I’ve spent my career at the intersection of Smartcards, Secure Elements, and Embedded Security, building products that millions rely on every day for Payments, Identity and Transport applications. From designing secure operating systems to ensuring Common Criteria and EMV certifications, I’ve led initiatives that turned complex requirements into trusted, market-ready solutions. Some of my proudest achievements include guiding products from concept to global deployment, partnering with silicon vendors and certification bodies, and leading cross-functional teams that delivered ahead of schedule without compromising security. I bring a unique mix of technical knowledge (GlobalPlatform, ISO/IEC 7816, cryptography) and the ability to bridge business, engineering, and compliance stakeholders; ensuring security isn’t just strong, but scalable. What drives me is the challenge of making trust invisible; building security so seamless that millions of users never have to think twice. Colleagues know me as someone who is open minded and curious about what’s next.
