Background
About Thomas Bender
In when finishing LSU's School of Library and Information Science, it was a paradigm that librarianship was divided into four sectors, for lack of a better word, and that as a student finished his or her studies, received the degree and got into the field, you, as a librarian were going to be in that same sector of the field throughout your career. At that time the four accepted groupings were : public libraries academic libraries (universities and colleges,) school libraries, and special libraries (everything else, law, industry, medical, archives, resource centers, et. al.) It gives me tremendous satisfaction to state that I've been involved in three of the four, starting my career in a public library, then moving to my own, former grade school teaching students from PreKindergarten through eighth grade; from there, I moved to a shared, private school library teaching 6th grade through 12th grade in an outstanding facility. Following that, I found myself in an academic library moving from a reference librarian through a promotion to Electronic Resources librarian, and NOW as the director of the library at the theologate for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. I'm now responsible for managing all aspects of the Library and resources for our students, faculty and other library stakeholders among the religious communities and others within the Archdiocese of New Orleans as well as Seminarians from all the dioceses in the Province of Louisiana and other states. Specialties: At Cigar Weekly, we seek to be the "everyman" publication and community within the universe of avid cigar smokers and those who produce that which we so enjoy. As editor-in-chief, it is my responsibility to maintain a standard of publication with interesting content provided by the members of our community of constituents who post and read on our forum (bulletin board.) We aim to bring not only current, timely and important daily news, but topics of interest to, for and by our members & public.
